在我們這個(gè)星球上,有70多億人口,200多個(gè)國(guó)家和地區(qū),2,500多個(gè)民族,5,000多種語(yǔ)言。在地理位置、歷史傳統(tǒng)、思想文化等因素的形塑下,人們的生活方式、社會(huì)風(fēng)俗、思維模式、審美情趣、價(jià)值觀念等呈現(xiàn)出不同特點(diǎn)。在紀(jì)念孔子誕辰2,565周年國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)研討會(huì)上,國(guó)家主席習(xí)近平指出:“不同國(guó)家、民族的思想文化各有千秋,只有姹紫嫣紅之別而無(wú)高低優(yōu)劣之分。每個(gè)國(guó)家、每個(gè)民族不分強(qiáng)弱、不分大小,其思想文化都應(yīng)該得到承認(rèn)和尊重。
在經(jīng)濟(jì)全球化和科技進(jìn)步的推動(dòng)下,中國(guó)與世界的命運(yùn)更加緊密地聯(lián)系在一起。截至2016年3月和我國(guó)建交的國(guó)家多達(dá)173個(gè),隨著“一帶一路”戰(zhàn)略的提出與實(shí)施,我國(guó)與非英美文化國(guó)家的交往日益頻繁。在我們大踏步走向世界的過(guò)程中,迫切需要了解各個(gè)國(guó)家的情況,了解各國(guó)的人民及其文化長(zhǎng)目前國(guó)內(nèi)出版的介紹外國(guó)國(guó)情的英語(yǔ)書(shū)籍大多限于英、美等發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家,涉及其他同家概況的英語(yǔ)出版物寥寥無(wú)幾。
為服務(wù)“一帶一路”國(guó)家戰(zhàn)略,促進(jìn)各國(guó)人民的人文交流與文明互鑒。高等教育出版社引進(jìn)英國(guó)Kuperard出版社Culture、Smart!及、Simple Guides系列叢書(shū),編輯出版“體驗(yàn)世界文化之旅閱讀文庫(kù)”。本文庫(kù)共96冊(cè),其中亞洲國(guó)家28冊(cè)、歐洲國(guó)家31冊(cè)、美洲國(guó)家16冊(cè)、非洲國(guó)家14冊(cè)、大洋洲國(guó)家2冊(cè),含“一帶一路”沿線國(guó)家45冊(cè);另有一單獨(dú)畫(huà)冊(cè)與科學(xué)系列和哲學(xué)系列叢書(shū)各2冊(cè)。
