本書的寫作視角是考察當代西方翻譯研究的主要成果及其對翻譯活動產生的影響，重點探討當代西方翻譯理論的發(fā)展脈絡，梳理這一時期歐美翻譯學界的主流思想。全書從翻譯研究概況入手，分析20世紀后四十年到本世紀初的主要翻譯流派，涉及語言學翻譯理論、功能學派翻譯理論、闡釋學派翻譯理論、文化研究學派翻譯理論、解構主義翻譯理論、女性主義翻譯理論及后殖民翻譯理論，并對當今翻譯研究和翻譯實踐中有爭議的三個重要問題進行了討論。
本書的目標讀者是高校翻譯專業(yè)的本科生和研究生，也可以作為翻譯研究人員和譯者了解當代西方翻譯思想的參考書目。
楊彩霞，中國人民大學外國語學院英語語言文學、翻譯教授，博士生導師，外國語學院教學督導組組長，大學英語翻譯教學團隊負責人，MTI教育中心筆譯方向導師，中國翻譯協(xié)會專家會員，《基督教思想評論》特約編審，國內多家一級出版社翻譯。著作有《英漢翻譯理論與教學研究》、《二十世紀美國文學與圣經傳統(tǒng)》，譯著有《中國印度之智慧》、《全球倫理》、《讓•皮亞杰》《還原出埃及記》、《二十一世紀學習的革命》、《化身博士》等30余部獨譯作品，主編教材《大學英語寫作》（一），參與編寫教材4部，在國家刊物上發(fā)表論文30多篇。獲中國人民大學十大教學標兵稱號（2016），多次獲得全國大學生翻譯比賽、演講比賽、寫作比賽等英語競賽指導教師獎項。
