《新理念大學英語泛讀教程（第3冊）》是英語教學不可缺少的教學內容，也是英語其他課程的一個重要補充。本“教程”內容是圍繞提高學生的英語能力所設計的。為了達到這個目的，根據(jù)“泛讀教程’’的教學特點和要求，在編寫過程中著重強調了如下幾個方面的內容：
為了擴大學生的英語詞匯量，拓寬知識范圍，獲得更多的知識信息，豐富學生的語言知識，本教材注重選材范圍，力求涵蓋社會科學、人文科學以及自然科學等方面的內容。一、二冊著重選擇適用英語，如：電子商務、經(jīng)濟、貿易、金融、證券交易等方面的文章；三、四冊側重于選擇社會科學和人文科學以及自然學科等方面的文章。本教材的教學目的是要求學生以自學為主，故文章的篇幅不宜太長。一、二冊的文章250～300個單詞，三、四冊的文章350～400個單詞。文章由易到難，便于學生閱讀、理解和掌握，從而提高學生的閱讀興趣和學習效果。
