《新編綜合英語(yǔ)》共四冊(cè)，每?jī)?cè)12個(gè)單元，四冊(cè)共48個(gè)單元，在詞匯、語(yǔ)法、語(yǔ)篇等難度系數(shù)上逐步提高。每單元圍繞一個(gè)中心主題，分為課文A(Text A)和課文B(Text B)兩個(gè)部分，兩篇課文主題上相互關(guān)聯(lián)。課文A為精講篇章，由教師講解，要求學(xué)生深入、透徹地理解課文并完成課前練習(xí)和課后練習(xí)，課前練習(xí)如詞匯、背景知識(shí)激活等，課后練習(xí)包括讀、說(shuō)、寫(xiě)、譯的基本能力訓(xùn)練，包括問(wèn)答、釋義、詞匯選擇、選擇填空、完型填空、英譯中、中譯英與寫(xiě)作等多種練習(xí)形式；Text B為與Text A話(huà)題相關(guān)的內(nèi)容拓展或者深化部分，是學(xué)生寫(xiě)作、討論及辯論的基本材料，練習(xí)形式為問(wèn)答題。
