本書為“北京大學比較文學學術文庫”之一，書中研究所致力于推進把文本實證與理論闡發(fā)相互貫通的多層面文化的原創(chuàng)性思維，在文學的發(fā)生學研究、闡述學研究和文化學研究諸多領域，作了探索性的努力，分別撰著為專題研究的論稿。
樂黛云，1931年1月生于貴州，1952年畢業(yè)于北京大學中文系，英語四會，俄語可閱讀。現(xiàn)任北京大學現(xiàn)代文學和比較文學教授，，博士生導師、上海外國語大學顧問教授、東北師范大學、天津師范大學、廈門大學、南京大學、南京師范大學、中國語言文化大學兼任教授。1990 年獲加拿大麥克馬斯特大學榮譽文學博士學位，現(xiàn)任中國比較文學學會會長、全國外國文學學會理事。曾任北京大學比較文學與比較文化研究所所長（1984—1998）、深圳大學中文系主任（1984-1989）。國際比較文學學會副主席（1990—1997）。
