《理工專業(yè)通用學術英語（拓展篇）》是從通俗化學術語篇能力培養(yǎng)向專業(yè)學術語篇能力培養(yǎng)的過渡與拓展，為學生理解英文原版教材、研究報告、英語授課或講座打下基礎。為了集中對這些語類的共核特征教學，本冊的教學內容優(yōu)化為理工專業(yè)學術語篇構建中的九個主要模塊：專業(yè)術語定義、技術概況、公式與符號、圖表、技術系統(tǒng)構造、分類、工作原理與流程、技術特征與性能、實驗過程．熟悉這些語篇構建模塊既有助于提高閱讀理解效率和準確性，也有助于提高寫作中謀篇布局的嚴謹性和語言使用的得體性．閱讀和聽力教學材料題材豐富多樣，但語篇體裁和語體特征集中，便于語篇特征的強化教學和語體意識培養(yǎng)。
